Formal Activity

What is a formal activity?

Formal Activities are usually for academic credit and could include an exam.

It is one of the categories under which CPD hours can be claimed.

If the activity does not include an exam or evaluation portion, then it must have a duration longer than four hours to be eligible for credit. If there is an exam, then any duration is eligible.

Formal Activities include:

• professional development programs, courses and seminars
• courses offered by universities, technical institutes, colleges, suppliers, employers, or technical societies
• courses offered in traditional classroom settings, by correspondence, by video, or online

One hour of course attendance equals one CPD hour.

Up to 30 CPD hours per year may be claimed in this category.
