In order to get your P.Eng. or P.Geo. license from APEGA, you'll need to meet a few requirements. While it's not a very difficult process, it can be time consuming (the most time consuming requirement being the minimum 4 years of professional engineering/geoscience experience).
It basically boils down to the following steps:
APEGA has a list of requirements that you need, this includes that you be a graduate of a valid university program, have 4 years of engineering/geoscience work experience, and that you are a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen, and a few others. For the full list of requirements, see What are the APEGA requirements for a P.Eng. / P.Geo.?
As part of the application you will submit, you must include a detailed log of all the related engineering or geoscience work experience that you have so far. There is a form that you must fill out.
Next up you have the National Professional Practice Exam. You'll need to take this and receive a passing grade. The exam material includes topics like ethics, engineering / geoscience law, and APEGA bylaws.
The last piece of the puzzle is the completed application. You'll need to fill out the full application for a P.Eng. / P.Geo.
Depending on the type of applicant you are, you will pay a different fee for your professional license application. See APEGA professional license application fees for more info.
