Professional Practice

What is professional practice?

Professional practice is defined as the period during which a licensed professional is:

• either practising engineering or geoscience as per the legal definitions in the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act
• or “influencing” the practice of the professions. This means having an effect on how the professions are practised.

It is one of the categories under which CPD hours can be claimed.

Fifteen hours of professional practice equals one CPD hour. Up to 50 CPD hours per year may be claimed in this category.

When calculating the hours, one must only consider the actual hours worked, and must exclude time off (such as vacations).
