The National Professional Practice Exam

What is the National Professional Practice Exam?

The National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) is a standardized exam that is used across Canada by 11 engineering and geoscience regulating organizations, including APEGA. It tests your knowledge of professionalism, law, and ethics.

Since the exam is common across those organizations, that means if you have already written the exam with an engineering / geoscience regulating organization other than APEGA you may not need to retake it.

Why should I take the NPPE?

The NPPE is one of the requirements for obtaining a professional license (P.Eng. / P.Geo.) and being licesnsed to practice.

Registration for the NPPE

In order to take the exam, you must register for it before the registration deadline for the exam date you wish to take, and after the registration deadline for the previous exam date. It is offered 5 times annually.
